Web design in Gatineau, by an agency from here

Aponia is a web agency founded in Gatineau. We design and build websites for businesses and organizations across Gatineau and the Outaouais: business websites, online stores, WordPress sites and redesigns. Since 2015, our team has delivered more than 400 projects, including several for organizations you’ll recognize from around here. This page covers how we work and what we’ve built for the region. For the full picture of what we do, see our web design and development page.

The process

How web projects work with us

You see what we’re building before it becomes expensive to change. Here’s how a project runs, from the first call to launch and beyond.

Étape 1

Discovery & UX/UI design

We dig into your goals and what’s already working, then turn it into a clear plan. If you have a site today, we look at your data before deciding what to keep. Then comes design: sitemap and mockups of the key pages. You approve the mockups before we build anything, while changes are still quick and easy to make.

Étape 2

Website development

Our developers build the site from the approved mockups: design integration, content, forms and features. When a feature doesn’t exist as a plugin, or a plugin would slow the site down, we code it from scratch. The result stays fast and easy to maintain.

Étape 3

Launch & support

Before launch we test the site on phones, tablets and desktops, check every form, and set up redirects if you had a site before. Then we train your team so they’re self-sufficient from day one. After launch we stay available: monitoring, security updates, backups and small content edits. It’s probably why 94% of our clients come back for more.

Why Aponia

Why choose us over another agency?

A website can look great without generating results. Visitors arrive, then leave without taking the action you needed. Everything starts from a clear goal: sell, collect donations, book appointments, receive applications. We define that goal with you, then design the site around it. Here’s what that looks like in practice.

SEO built in from day one

We don't bolt SEO on after launch. Page structure and features are planned from the start so Google and AI tools understand every page. That pays off in Gatineau, where competition on local searches is still reasonable. A local business that does things right can rank without an outsized ad budget.

Bilingual sites, a given around here

Gatineau lives in French and English. More than half the sites we build are bilingual, with separate URLs and SEO for each language, so both versions rank on search engines. And since Law 96, the French version needs to be taken seriously by any business serving Quebec customers.

Security and performance from the start

Our sites are fast at launch, because performance should never be an afterthought. Security basics are in place on every project. If you'd like, we can host your site on our infrastructure in a Canadian data center, with continuous monitoring.

A site your team runs itself

It's your website, not ours. We build on WordPress so your team can edit pages, swap images and add content without a developer. Training is free at launch. You're never stuck with a vendor.

Design that converts

Every page has a job: move the visitor closer to the action that matters to you. We design the journeys, forms and calls to action around that goal, then measure what works. That's how we approach web design, in Gatineau and everywhere else: a site can be beautiful, but it has to be useful first.

Rare accessibility expertise

Our sites can be built to WCAG standards. We've developed solutions for the deaf-blind community, hands-on experience few agencies have. For the region's public and parapublic organizations, that's often a requirement, not an option.

Let's talk about your project in Gatineau.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or your current site has run its course, we can help, in Gatineau or anywhere in the Outaouais.

Want more before reaching out? Here’s the essential: the local market, our experience with the region’s organizations, and the kinds of projects we take on.

A local agency in a bilingual market

A lot of businesses around here search “web design Gatineau” or “Gatineau web agency” and end up with firms in Toronto or Montreal. Aponia was founded in Gatineau in 2015.

Working with an agency founded in your own city means advice from people who already know your market: a bilingual clientele, buyers on both sides of the river, and public organizations with requirements of their own.

Websites for the Outaouais public and parapublic sector

Foundations, municipalities, school boards, community organizations: a good share of our work in the region comes from the public and parapublic sector. These organizations arrive with requirements many agencies discover mid-project and we know up front: WCAG accessibility, bilingualism, Law 25 compliance and, often, a formal RFP process.

The Fondation Santé Gatineau, the Municipality of Val-des-Monts and the Western Quebec School Board have all been through it before you. If you’re preparing an RFP or a requirements document, send it over: we respond to them regularly and we’ll tell you quickly whether we’re the right fit for your project.

Websites for the region's private businesses

Clinics, contractors, manufacturers, shops, accounting and engineering firms: the private sector makes up the other large share of our clients in the region. The challenges are different, usually standing out on Google, generating calls and quote requests, and selling online. The process is simpler too. UrbanMop is a good example: the company cleans homes and offices across Gatineau and the Ottawa area, nearly every job starts with the online quote form we built, and we still run their SEO. Another example, in a completely different field: Restaurant Antonyme in Gatineau wanted to showcase its dishes while keeping control of a menu that changes weekly. Their team now updates it themselves.

Every organization needs something different. A clinic, a manufacturer, a foundation and a school board in the Outaouais don’t need the same website. That’s exactly what we work out together on the first call.
