THE PROCESS

How WordPress projects work with us

You see what we’re developing before it becomes expensive to change.

Step 1

Discovery & Strategy

We map what your site needs to do and who it’s for, then turn it into a clear plan.

Step 2

Design & Build

You approve the design before we develop. Then we deliver a site your team can run without calling us.

Step 3

Launch & Support

We test everything and train your team on WordPress. After launch we stay available for support, while leaving you fully autonomous.

WHY APONIA

Why choose us over another agency?

Custom, not template

We design custom, then build it so your team can easily edit every page. No templates, unless you ask for one.

Any feature you need

Our developers are full-stack. When the feature doesn't exist as a plugin, we code it from scratch.

Yours to keep

It's your website, not ours. We even show you how to add content yourself, so you never depend on our team.

Fast and built to last

Clean builds that stay fast and don't turn the next update into a rescue mission.

Learn more about building a WordPress site

WordPress runs a huge share of the web for a reason. It’s flexible, and almost anyone on your team can learn to edit it. The catch is how it’s built: a lean, well-built site stays fast and easy to manage, while a pile of plugins on a heavy theme turns slow and fragile. Here’s how we approach it.

How we build: custom design, on a page builder you control

Most agencies pick a side: custom code or page builders. We start from a different question: who will manage the site day to day? Usually, that’s your team.

So by default, we design custom and build on a page builder like Elementor, set up to stay fast and lean. That way you can edit pages, swap images, and add sections yourself, without calling us for every change.

When the existing tools aren’t enough, we develop custom. When the feature you need doesn’t exist as a plugin, or the plugin version would slow everything down, our full-stack developers code it from scratch and build it into your site.

We don’t use off-the-shelf templates, unless that’s specifically what you want. In the end, our advice depends on who will manage the site and what it has to do.

What's included in a WordPress site we build

Here’s what comes with a WordPress site we deliver, so your team can run it from day one.

  • A custom design that matches your brand and works on every screen.
  • A WordPress editor set up so your team can update pages and content without a developer.
  • Clean, fast code, with only the plugins the site actually needs.
  • Security basics handled: SSL, backups, and updates.
  • SEO foundations: clean structure, metadata, and fast load times.
  • Accessibility built to WCAG standards.
  • Training so your team knows how to manage the site.

Bilingual WordPress, built for Quebec

More than half of our sites ship in French and English. We make sure each language has its own URLs and its own SEO. Both versions get found, instead of one being an afterthought.

Since Law 96, this is more than good practice: businesses serving Quebec customers are expected to offer their website in French, even when they are based elsewhere in Canada. Done right, that obligation can also become an advantage, because the French version is often the one Quebec customers use when searching for products and services.

Custom features and integrations

WordPress does a lot out of the box. When you need more, our full-stack developers build it. A few things we’re often asked for:

  • Custom features coded from scratch when no plugin covers it.
  • Integrations with the tools you already use, like CRMs, payment systems, and booking tools.
  • Membership areas, client portals, and gated content.
  • Forms and automations that connect to your other systems.
  • Connections to your email platform and your analytics.

If it has a way to connect, our team can usually wire it in. If it doesn’t exist yet, we can build it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Building & Customization

Do you use page builders like Elementor, or custom code?

Both, usually together. We default to a page builder so your team keeps control of its own pages, and we keep the build lean so it stays fast. When no plugin does the job, we code the feature custom.

Yes. Our developers are full-stack, so when no plugin covers it, we code the feature from scratch and build it into your site.

Rarely, and only if that’s what you want. Our designs are custom by default.

Bilingual & Security

Do you build bilingual WordPress sites?

Yes. Each language is set up with its own URLs and SEO foundations, so both the French and English versions can be found in search engines.

Yes. We clean the site and close the hole that let it happen, then set up backups and monitoring so it stays secure.

Yes. For Quebec organizations, we handle the website side: consent, cookie controls, and privacy pages. Your lawyer should still review compliance.

Ownership, Cost & Migration

Do I own the site and the code?

Yes. The code, the content, the hosting, and the domain are yours. No lock-in and your team can edit it.

Yes. We keep your URLs and rankings in place with redirects, and carry over the content that already performs.

Most sites take 6 to 10 weeks. The cost depends on the design and the custom features you need, and we give you an itemized quote up front.
